My year as president is now history. I would like to share with you what we accomplished as a chapter in 2009. Two Associates were designated SRAs, and have several MAI candidates working to complete their requirements. We have initiated legislation to regulate AMC’s with the help of the Philadelphia Chapter and the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS®, and will continue to pursue this legislation in the future.
We have been acknowledged both nationally and regionally as one of the most successful chapters in the country. Our leadership from the past, present and future are instrumental in our success and will help us to grow and thrive in the challenging times to come.
There are significant challenges ahead. We must expand our membership, both designees and associates, to grow an organization that stands to lose 1/3 of the designated members to retirement over the next decade. We are challenged to be creative and innovative as changes in the financial industry have drastically affected the way we do appraisals and the way we are compensated for the work.
We belong to the most important appraisal organization in the world. We are charged with maintaining the highest level of ethics and professionalism in our industry. The Appraisal Institute has done more for our profession than any other and I am proud to be a designated member and having the opportunity to serve you as the Chapter President. I know the new leadership will exceed all expectations and will maintain our place as one of the best chapters in the country.
I would also like to thank all the Chapter leaders, board of directors and committee chairs for all their hard work over the year. I would like to give special thanks to Mary Ann Hertzig for all her support and wish Aleta Livsey, RAMP receptionist good luck in her retirement.
